"Cold Water" was recorded around 3:00 AM in the morning. My producer, Jeff Berkley (Berkley Hart, Jason Mraz, Steve Poltz) felt we could capture the essence of when I wrote it if we recorded it around the same time that I write most of my songs (In the middle of the night).
It was born out of pure inspiration from admiring another singer-songwriter of great importance to the American songbook. Sometimes that's all I can do, is feel inspired by a thought of reverence for another human being. I love that about songwriting.
