"Angels"
I had a very trying year in 2003. I Lost a manager who I really relied on, I also had asked to be released from my record label, I lost my income and my apartment. But It was also a year of miracles.
I was being challenged by a music manager who managed some well known artists (though he was not my manager) who would call me and pretty much bless me out on just about everything. So Angels was written as a answer to how I was feeling about the situation at the time ... blessed, but in a very challenging situation. It turned out to be a kind of anthem for my fans. So something good came out of a not so good situation.

"Angels"
Words & Music by Lisa Sanders

Lyric
You say I'm bent on suffering, did you learn that in school
I'm a glutton for punishment, did they teach that to you
I say there were no bad schools, I made up my own rules
There were angels watching over me
Verse
I drink beer in the morning to start my day, my sista comes around says that's not okay
I tell her no worries here, you've got nothing to fear,
There are angels watching over me
Chorus
And I say, there are heartbreaks, to tear me apart
And I try, have a good life, do the best that I can
Cause there are angels watching over me
Verse
My friend Andy's in the fight for her life, she says that okay, cause God made it right
She says, I've got nothing but time, tell me whats on your mind
There are angels watching over me
Chorus
And I say, with such good friends, how could I go wrong
And there's no crying, this life stuff, could rip us apart
But there's angels watching over me
Verse
Time goes on and on, and so do I, push a little harder, so I can retire
Sometimes I've changed jobs, stay ahead of the line
Cause there are angels watching over me
Chorus
Sometimes, get bogged down, cartin' kids around
And sometimes, to make ends meet nothing goes right
But there are angels watching over me, and there are angels, watching over you
