"Texas"
Words & Music by Lisa Sanders & Susan Gibson
Featured on guitars is the amazing studio and live guitarist and Lap Steel player "Doug Pettibone" who also works with Lucinda Williams, Tim Flannery and John Mayer and many others.
We started writing "Texas" around 2003, on a fun summer tour blazing across Texas with Susan Gibson and we finished it sitting on her living room floor at her ranch house in the Texas Hill country. Susan wrote "Wide Open Spaces" ( sung by the Dixie Chicks ) as well as many other great song. I was over the moon and so proud to have opportunity to spend the time with this gifted artist and to write this beautiful song. I'll remember it forever with a big ol' smile on my face.

LYRICS
Texas
You say you set me free, to think about you and me
No more going round, talking just makes me crazy
I've been thinking a long time a little fresh air might clear my mind
Chorus
Think I'll go out to Texas, Leave my worries behind
Think I'll go out to Texas, Leave my worries behind
Verse
You say your sister's out there, she's got her own house and a room to spare
Nothing out there but sky and miles stretched for hours and hours
Maybe go for awhile, a change of scenery might clear my mind
Chorus
Think I'll go out to Texas, leave my worries behind
Think I'll go out to Texas, leave my worries
Bridge
Faster than the speed of sound, Just fast enough to turn around
Verse
I like rambling around but these days it gets me nowhere,
Not the end of the story just another bump in the road
Maybe stay for a while, some time to wonder might change our minds
Chorus
Think I'll go out to Texas, leave my worries behind
Think I'll go out to Texas, leave my worries
Faster than the speed of sound
Just fast enough to turn around
Nothing out there but sky
